Cigars: Not Just for Men

30 September 2011 in Uncategorized

Cigars have typically been regarded as a symbol for power, prestige, and privilege- for men that is. Stereotypically, cigar smoking is a manly pastime, and nothing a lady would dare to do. Many women out there are breaking that stereotype though. According to The Cigar Association, there could actually be up to half a million women out there that smoke cigars! Habanos (Cuban Cigar Company) has even made a cigar specifically for women. It’s called the Julieta, and is a cigar designed to resemble a cigarette (a shorter and narrower design).

There are many reasons women out there are switching to cigars. For some, smoking a cigar can make them feel more in control or powerful. Some even do it because it makes them feel like a rebel. Others do it for fun or to enjoy the peaceful feeling a cigar has to offer. However, most do it simply because they enjoy the taste and the experience of a good cigar.

It’s not just your everyday women joining this trend either – many famous women have become part of this movement as well. Not only has Madonna been known to enjoy a nice cigar, but so have women like Whoopi Goldberg, Drew Barrymore, and Demi Moore. Do you remember Bonnie (of Bonnie and Clyde)? She smoked cigars too!

Many bars and cigar shops (Like Bacca Cigar) are hosting cigar nights now, some even just for ladies. Cigars aren’t just for men anymore. So ladies, feel free to “smoke em’ if you got ‘em”.
